Resolute Forest Products is suing Greenpeace for ’malicious falsehoods’

(CRC)—Greenpeace UK came to the defence of their Canadian outpost members who are under attack by Resolute Forest Products (formerly called Abitibi Bowater) in a 7$ million lawsuit filed in Thunder Bay, Ontario. “When will companies learn that suing campaigners won’t silent us?” protested Prince Philip’s fascist green errand boys. The UK greens argue that “there is even a name for these lawsuits: strategic lawsuits against public participation, or SLAP”.

Not so argues back National Post energy journalist Peter Foster in his June 25 commentary "Greenpeace’s SLAPPschtick" : “… As the manufactured acronym suggests, SLAPPs are allegedly designed to slap down legitimate debate on issues of public interest. Again, it fits nicely into the narrative of Big Bad Business Bullies. That is not to say that there shouldn’t be legislation against using financial heft to silence critics. It’s just that to categorize Resolute’s suit as a SLAPP is untenable, especially as Greenpeace has already acknowledged spreading falsehoods.”

On May 28, Foster in an another article entitled “Greenpeace’s ‘malicious falsehoods in attacks on Boreal Forest Agreement ” says that “Given the extraordinary power of environmental non-governmental organizations, ENGOs, corporations have been reluctant to pursue lawsuits, but Resolute seems to have come to the end of its tether in the face of relentless Greenpeace attacks related to the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, the “ceasefire” signed three years ago by members of the Forest Products Association of Canada, FPAC, and nine ENGOs after a series of ENGO do-not-buy campaigns.

The ENGOs that are still in the CBFA are: the Canadian Boreal Initiative, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, David Suzuki Foundation, ForestEthics, Ivey Foundation, the Nature Conservancy and the International Boreal Conservation Campaign.

Before the lawsuit was filed, Foster gave the background to the CBFA agreement in a piece written March 30th “Red-Faced Greenpeace” in which he wrote the following: “For years, corporations have been cowed by NGO campaigns of lies and intimidation. Companies have been reluctant to climb into the mud-wrestling pit with their adversaries, fearing a no-win situation. Instead they have engaged in “truces” leading to “agreements” that almost invariably restrict their job-creating activities, which often appears to be the ENGOs’ main objective.”

Greenpeace has spread so much disinformation and so many lies with the aid of the media that the battle lines have to be brought to a higher level. In early 2001, Brazil and the Brazilian Nuclear Energy Association defeated Greenpeace by telling the truth about their agenda and their princely controllers. That is an important precedent.

But regardless of the outcome of Resolute’s lawsuit against Greenpeace Canada, the only real strategic victory for mankind will be won if we are successful in our all out effort to defeat the British-Dutch Empire’s financial fascism now being implemented throughout Europe and their attempt to presently pull the plug on the United States economy.

That is the main battle line. Defeat the center of the Empire and the green foot soldiers will rapidly disperse and head for the hills! [GG]
