British Try To Blast UN Out of Syria, for NATO Intervention

(LPAC)—Tony Blair and the British elite are
urgently pursuing a strategic confrontation between Russia and
the United States, with Syria and Iran among their preliminary
"triggers." This is the only context from which to assess the
sudden escalation of mass suicide bombings in a Syria previously
free of terrorism for decades.

With Blair back in the United States for the second time in
three weeks, and also meeting frequently with Israeli Prime
Minister Bibi Netanyahu, the "al-Qaeda" terror bombing campaign
in Syria escalated again May 10 with horrific blasts in the
capital, Damascus. The purpose of such terror was stated by
London’s Financial Times in its editorial on April 30, one day
after the last large bomb blast in Damascus: "But Moscow’s
support for Syria should be tested once more... A declaration by
the former UN Secretary General [Kofi Annan] that his peace
initiative has failed would be a solemn moment, one that even
Russia could not casually ignore."

The double suicide car-bomb blasts in Damascus today came
closer to achieving London’s aim. The al-Qaeda-mode bombings — a
smaller one following once people had gathered after a much
larger car bomb at the same place, killed at least 55 people,
wounded 400 others, and partially destroyed the Syrian military
intelligence headquarters building. This followed a bombing
attack the previous day which narrowly missed a convoy of UN
observers from Annan’s mission. UN Sec. Gen. Ban Ki Moon then, in
a statement reacting to the bombings, almost disowned the mission
as London wants: "Such incidents, in addition to the continued
violence reported in many cities in Syria, call into question the
commitment of the parties to the cessation of violence and may
have a direct impact on the future of the mission," it said.

The Annan mission is supported by Russia and China, while
British and some U.S. spokesmen and media openly pronounce its
failure in order to get to a NATO military attack on Syria. The
strongly pro-British foreign minister of Italy’s pro-British and
unelected government, Giulio Terzi de Sant’Agata, for example,
told La Repubblica that they are skeptical of Annan’s mission,
and want the UN to send in 2-3,000 men while working with the
Syrian "opposition" and seeking a Syrian coup "by [President]
Assad’s entourage." Asked about al-Qaeda terrorism having gotten
into Syria, Terzi replied with British aplomb that "much of what
came in the Arab spring is risky, [but] we have no nostalgia for
the condition people suffered under Ben Ali, Mubarak, or
Qaddafi."

The Financial Times editorial cited above said, "The U.S.
and its allies must therefore start devising a `Plan B’ that will
put fresh pressure on the Syrian regime if the UN’s peace efforts
manifestly fail.... The west should not rule out taking tougher
action such as the arming of the Syrian opposition or the
creation of a safe haven inside Syrian territory to protect
civilians under attack... All of these measures would require the
support [i.e., capitulation] of Russia..."

Lyndon LaRouche emphasized today that Tony Blair is the key
British agent in this and other wars that the British Empire has
started. "He is more important in policy-making inside the U.S.
than Obama," LaRouche said, "and the fact that he is in the
country again is significant. Every significant change in policy
has come from him. From his history, it is clear that he is the
dirty tricks specialist of the British Empire." [PBG/CCC]
